[REPORT] The Connected Home: Programs and Products to Empower Customers

Along with the driving forces of evolving regulations, distributed energy resources, and business model change, energy consumers are influencing change in energy as we know it. This means that energy providers must wrestle with tough questions: What role should they play beyond the meter? When is the right time to act? What does the connected or smart home mean for the future of energy programs and services, and meeting growing customer expectations?

Zpryme recently surveyed more than 150 energy providers to learn more about their status in the connected home market..Key findings from the survey include:

  • 93% of respondents say utilities should play a role in the connected home
  • 52% of respondents say the importance of connected home products/services for energy providers will increase significantly over the next 3 to 5 years
  • Energy efficiency, demand response, and time-of-use programs will be the most impacted over the next 3 to 5 years
